Primary packaging would imply that this was the bottle itself in either glass, PET or “metal bottles”, the latter being not cans. Enterprise have supplied bottling and packaging equipment for bottle sizes from 50 ml in the case of spirit miniatures up to 19 litres polycarbonate returnable water coolers – and everything in between. 

Primary bottle packaging

Primary bottle handling and packaging machinery consists of:

• Bottle De-palletiser
• Bottle Rinsers
• Bottle Fillers – Mechanical or Electropneumatic
• Bottle Labellers – PSL, Hot Melt or Wet Glue
• Bottle closing machines – Capping, Crowning and Corking

Secondary packaging equipment

Secondary packaging equipment would therefore include anything the bottle is packaged into.  Enterprise Tondelli can supply the following secondary packaging machines:-

• Film only shrink wrappers
• Flat board shrink wrappers
• Tray and film shrink wrappers
• High sided tray erector/loaders
• Wraparound cartoners
• Combined machines for any combination of the above.
• Also special equipment for detergent industry such as tray erectors which then have an over tray that can easily be removed for shelf ready packaging
• American cartons with top and bottom flaps either glued or taped
• Combination machine for wrapround cartons and American cartons on the same machine!
• Individual bottle carton erectors for high value spirits etc
• Newly patented “rouge” packer where a corrugated board is used for heavy bottles as an open ended sleeve with very reduced energy costs compared to traditional PET bottle packaging
• Quincunx packs
• ¼ tray loaders
• Also doypack loaders

Tertiary packaging – Multipacking

Tertiary packaging or sometimes called multi-packing. It has to be said that sometimes secondary and tertiary are interchangeable depending on you point of view.

Enterprise can supply a wide ranger of tertiary or multi-packing from printed film only packs using a special heat tunnel for near perfect shrining to kraft board multipacks.

Recent projects included:-

• Kraft board FEC (fully enclosed carton) for 4 packs 330 ml bottles
• Open ended kraft board glued sleeves with crown in or neck through configurations
• Film only multipacks of bottles with a printed film and special heat shrink tunnel with moving walls for near perfect shrinkage and brilliant graphic retention
• Machines for card or plastic neck clips to make a multipack
