Kingsdown Water – New Bottling Line
Kingsdown Water have experienced impressive growth and success since their last bottling line upgrade in 2013. They are rightly proud of their Eco friendly carbon neutral credentials and give priority to environmental and ethical concerns. Kingsdown is also an approved supplier with The Sustainable Restaurant Association.
Kingsdown is a widely recognised and respected premium brand. The company is firmly established as a leading spring water producer and distributor. Kingsdown is synonymous with quality and style and is available in elegant 1ltr, 750ml, 500ml, and 330ml glass bottles, still and sparkling.
The Kingsdown source is situated in the heart of the North Downs, just outside the village of Kingsdown, some fifteen miles from the cathedral city of Canterbury. It is the chalk of the North Downs which provides the key to Kingsdown’s purity and quality. By acting as a huge natural filter it removes all impurities whilst ensuring that valuable trace elements are absorbed. The result is pure clean tasting spring water at its very best.
The Water Bottling Project And Its Challenges
In 2018 due to high demand for their products Kingsdown started to investigate the options for a new higher speed production line. Naturally they returned to Enterprise Tondelli to develop their new project. The new line would be more automated, more efficient and have a higher output than the previous line. The output was set to an impressive 12000bph. One of the key challenges was to fit the line into the available space. With ingenuity Enterprise developed a workable layout that gives good access throughout. The new area was also completely re-furbished to provide a beautifully clean, bright and hygienic working space for the new line. After rigorous negotiations and in the face of stiff competition Enterprise Tondelli were finally awarded with the Turnkey contract for the supply of the new line.
The new Enterprise Tondelli bottling line was installed and commissioned at the start of 2019. This fully automatic production line consists of de-palletising, rinsing, filling, capping, labelling (by others), conveying, shrink-wrapping, palletising and stretch-wrapping. The machines for the project are from the same reliable manufacturers used for the first project, ie. Cimec (with Arol capping turret), Giemme, Eurosistemi and Fipal. The machines are PLC controlled with local HMI touch screens. Remote support is provided from the manufacturer’s technical departments using an internet connection.
